Within two days the Rotary New Zealand World Community Service in partnership with Rotary Tonga had provided 550 Emergency Response Kits (ERK) to those in need without duplication.  Cash is still a major need to replenish stocks.

What's in an Emergeny Response Kit (ERK)?

Each ERK holds 60+ items packed in a 78-litre container:

Shelter - Tarpaulins: hammer and nails
Digging - A folding shovel for digging trenches.
Food - Fishing gear; a hunting knife; cooking equipment
Basic clothing - Bed covers;
Hygiene - a medical pack; soap; painkillers; antiseptic cream: purifying tablets to treat drinking water.

The contents of the Kits are reviewed regularly based on feedback from partners in the Pacific and communities that have received the boxes.

A complete ERK costs $600 but every dollar helps towards assembling the Kits with their life-saving contents and having them airfreighted.
