This week we concluded the planting of trees and native plants at the Plimmerton Domain in Porirua City.  Approximately 3500 trees have now been planted until the next phase in 2021. The Porirua and Plimmerton Rotary Clubs, Conservation Volunteers NZ and the Porirua City Council (PCC) are involved in this project.  It is the Rotary Peace and Rememberance Forest, a project to celebrate Rotary's 100 years in New Zealand.
Just over 30 dedicated Volunteers planted 2000 trees.  Members of the community are invited to join us to continue with more trees and plants on Saturday, 24 October.  Everyone had a great time outdoors, the weather was warm on the first Saturday however on the second day it rained.  PCC Staff shared with us information on the different species of plants and we learnt more about how to handle some of the native plants.  Thank you to Bill McAulay, President of Plimmerton Rotary for leading this project.  Great Team effort by the two Rotary Clubs and the PCC!
The Plimmerton Domain is looking much different with all these trees and plants in the ground now.
